My son is mentioned in this post along with our recent trip to Disney. Just a mention before you get too far in.
Hiya friends!
I’m back from my vacation to Florida. I pretty much stayed true to my word and took a blogging vacation as well, which was really weird, and now I’m having a hard time getting back into the ‘blog of things’ again. Today is a transitional day….don’t work until tomorrow.
Haven’t replied back to work e-mails yet.
Need to go get milk.
Unpack.
Sleep.
OK, so without giving you a very mundane play by play of my trip, I’ll give you the highlights (in no particular order):
- Watching my son run to meet his ‘Grandma Papa’ (my mom) in the airport parking garage.
- Seeing that my 12 year old nephew had grown 4 inches since I saw him last year in England.
- Listening to my 11 year old niece chitter chatter about her ’sense of style’ in clothes.
- Seeing my son kiss Mickey Mouse on the nose.
- Riding ‘Expedition Everest’ (the best roller coaster in Disney World, IMO) three times, Splash Mountain five times, and Rockin’ Roller-coaster twice.
- Running into the waves with my fearless son at Clearwater Beach.
- Shopping with my mom and sister at a local flea market for ‘hidden treasures’ including home-fried donuts and Vera Bradley knock-offs.
- Slurping down Dole frozen pineapple whip in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom.
- Ooing and awing over the closing fireworks above Cinderella’s castle at Magic Kingdom.
- Laughing as my hubby got thoroughly drenched on the rapids ride at Animal Kingdom, only to get thoroughly drenched seconds later.
- Shushing my son as he happily sang and talked too loudly at a VERY nice steak restaurant compliments of my in-laws.
- Floating on the 90 degree gulf water waves.
- Celebrating my 34th birthday at Disney World (the gave me a pin, and EVERYONE wished me happy bday the whole day…it was great!).
- Taking golf cart rides with my family and making several u-turns so my son could go under ‘more tunnels!’.
- Running to the first aid booth at Magic Kingdom after my son got ‘glow in the dark’ bracelet-stuff in his eye.
- Devouring my mom’s made from scratch Texas sheet cake for my birthday…oh I shared a little I guess.
- Exploring a bin of toys from the 70’s my mother-in-law had saved including Mr. Potato-Head, Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, and a complete Fisher Price Schoolhouse playset.
- Laughing at all the ‘ride snapshot’ pictures they take of us right before going down a big hill on the rides.
- Giving myself a Lupron shot in the hotel lobby at Disney.
- Holding my sleeping son in my arms on the plane ride home.
So, there you go. Not quite chronological, but those are the memories that popped into my head. It was a good time. It was dang-hard to keep on top of my medication while traveling, but I managed it pretty well. I only forgot one thing, and it was my bcp the night I flew in. Oopsie.
I’m sure that this trip served as the greatest distraction on the face of the earth for an IVF cycle. Leaving my own homespace did seem to make infertility and treatments and IVF practically disappear. Sometimes a bit too much. Sometimes to the point I was almost dreading coming back home just to be in the thick of things again.
I think I’m supposed to start Follistim next Monday. That’s considered ‘thick’, right?
Hope everyone is doing well. I will try to get blog-caught-up within the next few days! I miss knowing what’s going on with everyone!
OK, it was absolutely too hot for picture-taking during the trip. Too hot to be in pictures and look anything less than a sweat-drenched red tomato. Too hot to lug my big DSLR camera around my neck. Too sunny for good exposure. But here are two pictures of the few pics I took just to prove I did for future reference. The first is my son’s beloved ‘piece-a-rope’ that he found washed upon the beach. He happily swung that thing, singing ‘piece-a-rope’, for a least 20 minutes. Gotta love a kid who’s easy to please.

And another of my son meeting Buzz Lightyear. He was like, “who are you again?”.

Welcome back! Follistim is not at all thick in consistency when compared to PIO, but it’s certainly the thick of things as far as side effects. I was much clomissier/pissier on FSH than I ever was on Clomid.

Welcome back! We went to Disney (Land, not World) right before the start of our IVF cycle. It was a perfect distraction.
Wishing you tons of luck with this cycle!
