Here, here! I’m still here! Well, physically at least.
First, wanted to thank you all for the sweet and supportive comments on my last post (when was that post, oh about 10 years ago?) about my fears going into IVF. One step at a time was a consistent theme. Yes, I like that. One step at a time. So, here’s a recent step I’ve taken…
Step 1:
Went to see Nurse Peggy this week to get my new tricked out calendar for IVF. It is really quite a site, my amazing technicolored dream-calendar.
It was red and yellow and green and brown and
scarlet and black and ochre and peach and
and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and
purple and white and pink and orange
and BLUE.
Well maybe not that many colors. But a lot of colors. And if you have no idea what I just did right up there, then well, I guess you don’t love musicals as much as I do. Some may argue that Michael Damien makes a better Joseph, but my heart belongs to Donny Osmond in this roll. Wanna fight about it? Anyway, there’s a lot of colors on my calendar since each day I take multiple meds (not all these on every day though) and each med has its own color.
-
GREY is for Birth Control Pills. This is fitting since I’ve been having morning-sickness-like symptoms since starting this tiny little pill. I can also blame these GREY babies for my blog-absence since I’ve been fighting with a 3-day migraine. They’re small…but they’re stealthy.
-
WHITE is for Metformin, that tricky med that I went off ’cause the Dr. Nice told me so, gained weight, put myself BACK on without doc’s permission, and here it is back on the schedule. Now, please tell me, did I have to gain any weight from being off it in the FIRST PLACE?????? (Ahem…)
-
NAVY BLUE is for Dexamthasone, which is some sort of steriod cause I want to be BUFF. Ok, I guess it’s not that type of steroid, something to do with my thyroid antibodies I guess. Anyway, the calendar says I’m supposed to take it starting tomorrow, but the nurse has yet to call it in to my pharmacy….ah well.
-
AQUAMARINE is for my super extra-dose mega dose of folic acid. Simple as that. I always liked that color.
-
FUSCHIA is for my big horse-pill prenatal vitamins. Gag (the pills, not the color).
-
GREEN is for my Lupron injections that I start giving myself in a week and a half. Green is the color that you don’t want to see in your old injection sites. I think the color’s a bit of a subliminal warning.
-
YELLOW is the color of Follistim, the injectibles that make all those follicles. It’s like sunshine for my ovaries.
-
and finally, RED is the color of Luveris, which is yet another shot. I think it’s pure lutenizing hormone or something. (Lifers, you know what I mean. Everyone else, just keep reading on.) Red is the color that my abs will be at the end of all these injections. Oh yeah, and ‘red’ like ‘in the…’ from the cost of all these meds!
Well, there you have it. A cornucopia of delicious colors. Gotta get nurse Peggy moving on at least the Dex and the Lupron since I’m leaving on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back ag…oh I mean, I’m leaving on Wednesday.
Hope you all have a ggggggggreat 4th! Our’s was rained out…hoping to take in the ol’ fireworks tomorrow instead.
Cheers!

How exciting! And even better that you started with one of my favorite songs from the musical.

Oooh, that sounds beeeautiful! Here I was all excited about getting my first calendar ever (just for injectibles, but our previous clinic didn’t make them for injectible+IUI cycles)… but it’s just black-and-white, and now I am GREEN with envy over your colorful one.
Have an awesome trip!

I agree 100% about Donny Osmond. But you missed
lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve and green and crimson and silver and rose and azure and lemon and russet and gray and…
Sounds like a crazy calendar. Good luck!

I’m sure your technicolor calendar is a sign (good one!) – I love Donny in that role! Another sign! I can never keep all the colors straight in that song – I am always amazed the kids can do it.
Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be great with such a comprehensive tool at your fingertips.

Wow, sounds like a good way to keep everything straight.
I hope the icky feeling and the migraines subside a bit as you head toward the stim phase!
