Thank you for the award. I will do my part, I promise. I'm just behind. As for the 80s, I mostly remember carefully rolling up my pants and having scrunchy socks - I'd wear two or three pairs layered so you could see them in all their scrunchy glory. Also New Kids on the Block.

Liv, I totally remember UNITS and so wanted some. My mom made me some, but it wasn't the same as actually buying them. The UNITS stores rocked!

The 80's... oh god side ponytails, I have this awesome picture of me as a kid in a rah-rah skirt, lace finger gloves, coloured tights and legwarmers (seriously) with a ponytail out to the side that's got about a yard of ribbon wrapped around it so it sticks up high and far from my head and pulled so tight it looks like it hurts with a few crimped slices through it. Whenever I see it, I'm kinda thankful that I was under 10 for the whole of the 80's

I did the award thingy, thanks so much for the nomination!! http://exploringchaos.com/?p=112

I nominated you on my blog for the award too. I think your blog brings IF tribulations to a different level. Even some of my fertile friends are enjoying your take on things. Thank you so much for your dedication to this blog! It really gets me through the day sometimes.

Hey Eve - Love your blog. Here via ICLW

Everyone had so many great ones but there's one I haven't seen yet.

Okay, one word... UNITS. Tell me you know what I'm talking about! I totally rocked my UNITS. For those of you who don't know what they were... Individually sold pieces of clothing that were mostly solid colors, very modular, one size fits all knit clothing. The idea was that you could mix and match your UNITS and use the pieces in a bunch of different ways. A boatneck long sleeve top with extra fabric at the bottom could be bunched up with a belt (of course their belts are better described as a tube of fabric) or you could wear it long and cinch it at the waist for a dress. Or the belt could double as a slutty skirt... The retail stores in the mall were kinda weird. All white, very small and the whole store was just drawers top to bottom.

Okay, if anybody else remembers this... you are totally awesome. If you don't than, uh, your just a wannabe now.

Thanks for the award!

The only thing I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned are Vans.

Oh, and the toys -- Smurfs, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite. I'm actually about a year too old for My Little Pony but that would qualify too.

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!

Thanks for the wonderful stroll down memory lane. For me, the 80's came back big time last spring when New Kids On the Block announced their reunion tour.

Other than that... does anyone recall Max Headroom? The pepsi spokesman?

You're making me feel *really* old! I totally know how you feel - I caught myself saying just last week, "Texting - I'm too old for that." Then realized that I became one of those people who are now beyond the trends and residing in the land of the uncool.

As for the 80s, those were my glory days! What about Duran Duran, Cory Hart, Michael Jackson and Richard Marx? Or rolling your jeans and crazy big hair! My sisters and I would break dance in our driveway, we thought we were so cool. Legwarmers. too.

Ah, good times....

Thanks for the award!

I teach teenagers now, and I've become painfully aware of how old I am. One kid was talking about how he got "RickRolled", and I couldn't help reminiscing about how "Never gonna give you up" was a very popular song when I was in, oh, grade 4.

So yeah, old.

You ladies are cracking me up...I'm about ready to dance around my office to 'She's a Maniac' with my leg warmers and welding gear, lol!

Let's see what my favorite 80's memories are...

What about the urban myth that the kid from the Michael Jackson video (that one who did the breakdance spin on his head) fell while doing that and broke his neck?

Or the fact that someone knew someone who ate pop rocks and then drank a two liter of soda and their stomach exploded?

Or were those just me?
